WORSHIPPING IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD

The impulse to worship lies at the very core of the human being, who will find something to worship, even if it is a false god such as money, power, politics, or reputation.

Yet only the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is worthy of human worship.  It is God's worthiness alone that makes worship relevant.  So believers neither need nor have any other reason to worship than to glorify and enjoy the God of our salvation whom we adore.

Communal worship is not a passive observance, but an act performed by the congregation, with leadership share by clergy and laity.  When gathered, believers are aware of the presence of the Spirit and their worship is centered on God, their worship is authentic.  Authentic worship is marked by reverence and mystery, and offers an encounter with God in Prayer, Word, and Sacrament.

Worship is timeless when it is prayerfully guided by the wisdom of a tradition that stretches across millennia and is contemporary to the time and place in which it is offered.

Worship that is relevant, authentic, and timeless not only glorifies God, it deepens our relationships with God and one another, transforms us into more Christ-like disciples, reveals God's love and truth to visitors, and strengthens us for service to God and to the world.  Through such worship we come to know Christ and are making him known.

MUSIC MINISTRY
Music is an integral and vital part of the life of Seven Oaks. We believe that providing quality leadership to the worship experience is a central part of our mission. Our congregation is a worshipping congregation. We sing, ring and make music to God as an expression of our faith and as an offering of our praise!
We Sing Unto The Lord!
Chancel Choir
Our choir for adults, young and old! The choir provides musical offerings of praise for the worship services. The Chancel Choir has a tradition of musical excellence. Members enthusiastically share their faith through songs covering a wide range of styles from the traditional to the contemporary. New members are always welcome, and rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:00pm.
Cherub Choir
Our choir for preschool and early elementary children. This lively group rehearses and enjoys fun activities Wednesdays (during Koinonia) from 6:30-7:30pm. They also sing regularly for worship.
We Ring For Joy!
Covenant Ringers
This youth and adult handbell group rings on a five octave set of English Handbells and a three octave set of Choirchimes. They ring with joy to celebrate the covenant of God's love and grace. These ringers provide special music for worship throughout the year. They have also performed yearly at the South Carolina Governor's Treelighting Ceremony. Rehearsals are Sundays following the worship service.
We Sound The Trumpet!
Instrumental Soloists & Ensembles
Various artists within our congregation and guests from the surrounding musical community provide music at special times throughout the church year. Their talents enrich our worship immensely.
